Dr. Carter Comrie, Ph.D., LP, is a licensed clinical health psychologist in Southeast Michigan, where he sees clients from his private practice. Prior to this role, Dr. Carter was a staff psychologist at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center he is for the Mental Health Homeless Program and the Mental Health Lead at Crossover Health Detroit, where he lead a team of mental health professionals and conducted research on the differing factors that can negatively influence not only mental healthcare, but whole health as well.
Dr. Carter earned his Ph.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy and completed his post-doctoral fellowship at Ascension Genesys Hospital. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Carter serves as Chairperson for the Michigan Psychological Association (MPA) Pain Psychology Task Force and as Vice-Chairperson for the Michigan Health Professional Recovery Committee. Outside of work, Dr. Carter emphasizes the importance of physical activity in mental health treatment. He incorporates running, exploring local restaurants, and spending time with family into his own wellness routine, and encourages clients to explore similar activities.
Before founding SessionGlance, Dr. Krieg co-developed Emosta, an early-stage emotional analytics platform that examined how subtle shifts in facial expressions reflect changes in emotion and mental states. Working on that project shaped his conviction that technology in mental health should refine human insight rather than replace it. This principle guided the creation of SessionGlance, a platform built not merely to save time, but to help clinicians and clients alike see their therapeutic work with renewed clarity and depth.
Dr. Krieg’s work lives at the crossroads of psychology and technology. He continues to investigate how natural language processing and computational modeling can reveal new dimensions of psychological insight. His ongoing projects seek to integrate these innovations into everyday clinical practice in ways that remain grounded, ethical, and human-centered.
