Here is what we recommend:
“I use a secure tool called SessionGlance to help document our sessions more efficiently and to give you better feedback. It lets me securely record our conversations so I can track your progress, generate thoughtful session summaries, and tailor our work more precisely. All of your information is protected — nothing is stored on my computer, and everything is encrypted. I’m the only one with access, and the system automatically restricts access if not in active use. It’s HIPAA-compliant, which means it follows strict federal guidelines for privacy and health information security.”

SessionGlance Billing Questions

SessionGlance is reimbursable through the use of the CPT Code 96130
CPT code 96130 refers to the first hour of psychological testing evaluation, review and interpretation, performed by a physician or other qualified healthcare professional.
It is a time-based code, requiring a minimum of 31 minutes, and can include both face-to-face and non-face-to-face time.
1. Reviewing test results (e.g., from SessionGlance)

2. Integrating patient data and collateral information

3. Interpreting standardized test scores

4. Clinical decision-making treatment planning

5. Documentation and report writing

6. Feedback to the patient and/or caregiver(s)

Note: Combined visit prep time and time spent face-to-face with the patient count towards the 31-minute minimum.

Here’s what we recommend:
Mental health diagnosis codes (F codes) should be used to support medical necessity.

When billing 96130 with an E/M service, code E/M based on medical decision-making, not time

Use modifiers correctly:

1. Add modifier 59 to 96130 to denote a distinct service when included with another.

2. Add modifier 95 if the session was conducted via telehealth (after the 59).

3. A 25 modifier may be needed on the E/M code depending on payer guidelines.

YES! Many private pay providers find SessionGlance reports to be a valuable addition to their practices.
It depends.
-Typically not required for PPOs.

-May be requested by some HMOs.

-If you encounter unexpected prior auth denials, it’s worth inquiring or disputing, as this may stem from a lack of familiarity with the code.
