Installing and Troubleshooting the Virtual Audio Cable for MacOS: Step-by-Step Instructions
Installing VB-Audio Cable or Blackhole 2ch
1. SessionGlance will prompt installation if no virtual audio cable is present
When launching the SessionGlance application, if a virtual audio cable is not installed, SessionGlance will automatically prompt you to install either VB-Audio Cable or Blackhole 2ch.
2. SessionGlance will open the installer file
After selecting the virtual audio cable you wish to install, SessionGlance will open the appropriate installer file for you.
3. Run the installer
4. Install the driver
Click Install Driver.
5. Restart the computer
Although not required, a system restart is recommended to ensure that the virtual audio cable loads correctly and functions as intended.
Configuring Virtual Audio Cable
To ensure that the virtual audio cable is receiving signal and the audio is passing through to your headphones. We need to create a multi-output device:
1. Open Audio MIDI Setup
Search “MIDI” in the Launchpad
Open the application “Audio MIDI Setup”.
2. Create a Multi-Output Device
Click the + icon.
Select Create a Multi-Output Device.
3. Add Appropriate Speakers
Make sure that the virtual audio cable (either VB-Cable or Blackhole) is included in the new multi-output device.
Add the speaker that you use during sessions.
Tip: If you use multiple wireless headphone sets throughout the day, add them all so that the session audio automatically feeds into your headset when it connects. In the example below, “Xander’s Airpods #3” and “Airpods #2” are both added to the Multi-Output Device
4. Rename the Multi-Output Device (Optional)
Rename the device to something recognizable like “SessionGlance Audio”.
This will make it easier to work with when using your video conferencing software.
Reinstalling the Virtual Audio Cable (If needed)
If audio still does not pass correctly after configuration:
Uninstall the virtual audio cable.
Restart your computer.
Reinstall the other virtual audio cable through the same steps as above.
Restart again.
